Ariti Herbal

About Us

Ariti is a small family business established in Addis Ababa (A.A), Ethiopia, in 1999, with a license to cultivate herbs and manufacture various herbal products for local and international markets. Right at the outset, we established herbal gardens in A. A and Sebeta about 30 km west of Addis.

Several years ago, a regular customer wrote about us: “Ariti Herbal is a delightful old-fashioned apothecary, kind of shop where you can purchase a variety of health products. Ariti Shop is small but well-stocked, and one is encouraged to return containers after usage to the shop for recycling. No plastic bags are provided, and the packaging is made from used paper.”

Our business is named after a popular sweet-scented endemic species called  Artemisia Rehan or Ariti in the local language.

Ariti was established in 1999 by Emeritus Professor Ermias Dagne and his wife, also a chemist: Tadelech Tadesse, and our two daughters: Dina, a biotechnologist, and Beza, a microbiologist.
